New Tanker in Service

September, 2005 the Groton Fire Department took delivery of their newly refurbished Tanker Truck 822.  A 2005 Diesel Powered International with a 5 speed automatic transmission was purchased through State Bid.  The Board of Chiefs, along with the Wardens, made their decision too upgrade the chassis which utilizes the original Stainless Steel 1600 gallon water tank from the old 822 Tanker.  With the rising costs of maintenance for older equipment and the cost of new this decision lead to a cost effective solution for replacement of a 1977 gas powered Ford.

After the completion of driver training, the new 822 is now in service and ready to respond to alarms.  This purchase has enabled the Department to update without any increase to our current Fire Tax Base.  We the Groton Fire Department would like to thank the Village and Town, Tax Payers for their continued support and making this New Tanker possible.  We the volunteers in turn will continue to show our appreciation by serving and protecting our community as in years past.

                                                                                        Thank You
